About Apollo Press

Apollo Press is a Toledo-based 501(c)(3), nonprofit print media organization. Founded by Jeffrey Darah and Dylan Sarieh in February 2024, Apollo Press currently manages and publishes The Scribe, a free newspaper that promotes local artists.

Our Values

  • Community Improvement
    • We seek to improve the world around us, through which we ourselves are also improved. Our nonprofit operations uplift their communities by addressing core problems, like artist recognition.
  • Never Step on Artists
    • We NEVER make money off any artists involved in any editions of The Scribe. The artists and other talented individuals in The Scribe are the lifeblood of the paper, and this publication would not exist without them. We do not unduly profit off of any artists.
  • Beauty
    • We uphold and increase all that is beautiful by promoting art in the community. Through The Scribe’s artistic showcase, we enable opportunities for positive cultural experiences and growth.
  • Creativity
    • Through our promotion of the work of others, we encourage the creative growth of local artists, as well as in ourselves, as we endeavor to better support them.

Our Vision

Our vision is to foster a vibrant, inclusive arts culture across Ohio, where every artist has the opportunity to thrive and every community is enriched by the transformative power of art. We seek to immortalize the stories of all artists within our physical and digital media.

What is The Scribe?

The Scribe is a philanthropic newspaper that empowers local artists by providing them free exposure for their work. Our model ensures that neither artists nor the community hosting locations incur any costs, making art significantly more accessible and visible. By democratizing access to visibility of artists, The Scribe fosters a vibrant art scene within the community. Originally founded in Toledo, The Scribe is expanding across Ohio, now supporting artists in Columbus, Fremont, and Cleveland!

Promoting Local Artists

Art is great for our well-being, yet life as an artist can be stressful! Modern artists face many obstacles to their growth, such as income insecurity, and notably, limited visibility and acknowledgment of their work.1 While art is great for our well-being, artists unfortunately face significant obstacles, such as financial instability and limited visibility of their work. The Scribe addresses these issues by offering free and accessible exposure for Ohio artists, ensuring more of their time and money is spent building their craft. References
