Content Criteria Guidelines
We maintain our commitment to inclusivity by welcoming submissions from all Ohio artists, regardless of experience level or background. However, each submission must meet all content criteria requirements to be eligible for inclusion into The Scribe. Ultimately, the following criterion are only guidelines, and we reserve the right to reject any content at our own discretion. ________________________________________Creative Authenticity
- Artist-Created Work: All submissions must be the artist’s own work, created with their individual effort or in collaboration with others. All contributors must be noted.
- Human-Made Only: We aim to provide a platform for human creativity and originality, so works generated by artificial intelligence (AI), or similar automated processes, will not be accepted.
- We do not require submissions to be new or previously unpublished works.
Ownership and Usage
- Respect for Artistic Ownership: Artists retain full ownership of their submitted works. By submitting to The Scribe, artists confirm that they legally hold creative rights to such content.
- Content Usage: By submitting your content to the Scribe, you grant us the permanent right to use it across any of our digital and print platforms for the promotional or creative purposes of Apollo Press.
- We will attempt to notify you of any such occurrence, but this may not be immediate or guaranteed.
Quality and Presentation
We strive to present each artist’s work in a way that benefits the artist, community, audience, and The Scribe itself, reflecting the mutual nature of each. High quality in each of these areas empowers everyone. We assess each submission based on the following quality criteria:- Presentation Expectations: Submissions should demonstrate a level of quality appropriate to the artist’s ability and resources.
- Work that lacks preparation, appears unfinished, or exhibits clearly avoidable flaws will not be accepted.
- Expectation of Effort: The Scribe is dedicated to showcasing artistic talent, but this cannot be done where a limited effort was made, or where it is unclear to the audience.
- Work with limited artistic input, or an input which is not easily received by the general audience, will not be accepted.
- Upholds our Community: While we aim to uplift all artists, Apollo Press maintains a commitment to showcasing work that is ultimately constructive and valuable to the audience.
- Submitted work that is non-constructive, promotes negativity without offering resolution, or appears excessively chaotic or disturbing in a way that detracts from a meaningful message will not be accepted.
- Submissions should avoid themes that are unnecessarily provocative or inappropriate for general and family audiences.
- Culturally and Politically Sensitive: We want art to serve the needs of everyone, not specific groups.
- Submitted work cannot have clear political bias or discrimination.
- Submitted work cannot discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, socioeconomic status, or any other protected characteristic.
- Any work that appears unnecessarily insensitive will not be allowed.
